Documentary Filmmaker
Farheen is a seasoned documentary producer/director. Her independent documentaries have broadcast on USA national network PBS and internationally. Her feature documentary Women of Islam – Veiling and Seclusion chronicles the history and diversity of women’s covering in the Muslim culture.
The documentary aired on television across USA including New York and Los Angeles and was distributed widely to Universities and libraries across the country.
Covered extensively by press Fox News, KPBS, San Diego Union Tribune, WNET and diverse publications, the film was voted “most popular” at Human Rights Film Festival Warsaw.
Farheen’s recent documentary FARAH was filmed in USA and Palestine over four years, and chronicles the life of a Palestinian girl injured in war and treated in USA at the hands of a stranger host family. The film has screened at Cinema Verite Iran and Aljazeera International documentary festival and broadcast on Aljazeera Arabia and Aljazeera English TV networks in over 140 countries.
Farheen has spoken at numerous forums in USA on the topic of independent filmmaking, women in filmmaking and misrepresentation of Islam in USA. Farheen has also worked in production and anchoring roles for network NBC and its affiliates. Farheen lives in California and has a Master in Business and Entertainment from University of San Diego and UCLA.
